WarHorse Gaming seeks TIF for Horsemen’s Park project

Ho-Chunk Inc. subsidiary WarHorse Gaming Omaha has applied for tax increment financing for its $220m Horsemen’s Park redevelopment.

The developers behind a plan to transform Omaha’s Horsemen’s Park into one of Nebraska’s first casinos have requested $17.5m in tax incentives from the city to realise the project.

Nevada starts process for esports wagering expansion

Nevada gaming regulators moved Wednesday to start the process for opening up esports wagering to a wider array of events to match the growing popularity of the video-gaming sport across the world.

The Nevada Gaming Control Board held a workshop to start building the framework for an esports technical advisory committee, in accordance with Senate Bill No. 165 passed in the Nevada Legislature this year.

Off-Strip properties, taverns oppose expansion of online gaming

More than two dozen gaming and tavern operators across Nevada are urging regulators not to expand online gaming.

A total of 28 executives representing 26 companies or establishments signed onto a letter expressing concern that a larger online gaming presence in the state would discourage Nevadans from visiting their brick-and-mortar businesses and undermine existing gaming policy. Nearly all of the names listed on the letter represent off-Strip Norther Nevadan and rural licensed gaming establishments.

Proof of vaccination to be a requirement for CES 2022 admission

When tens of thousands of people arrive for CES in January, they’ll be required to provide proof of a COVID-19 vaccination to be registered.

The Consumer Technology Association, sponsors of Las Vegas’ largest annual trade show, announced the proof-of-vaccination policy Tuesday.

CES, a showcase for consumer electronics products, has attracted around 170,000 people every January for years through 2020. This year, the show was conducted exclusively online with no live CES presence in Las Vegas.

Japan IR Partners: This Bet Could Still Pay Off

15 tribes apply for 10 sports-betting licenses in Arizona

The Arizona Department of Gaming plans to evaluate sports wagering proposals of 15 Indian tribes to determine which 10 would be licensed to take bets – and do it before the National Football League season begins.

Department representatives on Tuesday disclosed they have received 10 applications seeking licensure as a professional sports team or organization, and 15 applications seeking licensure as an Arizona tribe.

AGA says 2021 ‘on pace to be the best year ever for gaming’

Commercial gaming revenue across the country this spring reached record levels during what is shaping up to be a banner year for the gambling industry.

The industry brought in a record $13.6 billion in revenues during the second financial quarter, and “2021 is on pace to be the best year ever for gaming,” the American Gaming Association announced Tuesday.  The previous quarterly record was $11.1 billion in the third quarter of 2019 and again during the first three months of the year.

DraftKings-branded sportsbook in Las Vegas a possibility through Golden Nugget Online Gaming deal

DraftKings could eventually operate retail and online sportsbooks in Nevada after the Boston-based company’s planned $1.56 billion acquisition of Golden Nugget Online Gaming, a business owned by billionaire Tilman Fertitta.

On Monday, DraftKings unveiled the all-stock transaction, which includes a commercial agreement with Fertitta Entertainment, the Texas mogul’s holding company that co ntrol businesses across gaming, lodging, dining and entertainment sectors, including Golden Nugget casinos in downtown Las Vegas, Laughlin and three other states.

BetMGM Partners with NFL Cardinals And Gila River Casinos in Arizona

BetMGM on Monday became the first major sports betting operator with multiple partners in Arizona when it announced a deal with the Gila River Indian Community and the Arizona Cardinals for market access into the biggest legal sports betting state in the West.  The deal was announced on the final day for prospective operators to submit even wagering applications to the Arizona Department of Gaming.

BetMGM now has multiple points of market access in Arizona, is the only company to partner with both a professional sprts team and a tribe, and has the opportunity to open at least four retail sports betting locations – one each at Fila Rivers’ three casinos and one at the Cardinals’ State Farm Stadium. The tribe is planning a fourth casino in the future, and MGM would be able to put a branded sportsbook in that location as well.
